Kevin Mirallas faces a fight to recover from a groin problem in time for Everton's Premier League trip to Tottenham on Sunday.

Mirallas picked up the injury during the later stages of Saturday's 1-0 home win over Stoke, having scored the first-half winner. He has been unable to train all week because of the problem, and manager David Moyes will take a late check on his fitness ahead of the trip to White Hart Lane.

Everton are sixth in the Premier League, four points outside the Champions League places, ahead of the trip to third-placed Spurs. And Moyes is hopeful that Mirallas, who has been hampered by injury during his first season at Goodison Park, will recover to play.

Everton are already short on numbers for the trip to North London with both Marouane Fellaini and Steven Pienaar completing two-match bans.

The 25-year-old, signed from Greek champions Olympiakos for £5.3 million, has managed only 45 minutes of football in three months after a hamstring injury sidelined him in November.

Moyes has been happy with the way Mirallas has recovered from that injury, and is hoping the striker will avoid a further absence.

"Kevin's injury [earlier in the season] meant that we were a little short at times this season," Moyes said after the game. "But if he can get back to form and show a little of the form he had at the start of the season we'll be happy. There are just glimpses of it coming back."
