Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has played down speculation that he is set for a return to Atletico Madrid next summer, as he has vowed to see out the remaining three years of his contract with at Stamford Bridge.

Rumours of a deal that would see Atletico striker Radamel Falcao and Torres switch clubs ahead of the start of next season have persisted for the last year and more, yet the much maligned Chelsea hit-man has insisted he is not ready to give up on his Premier League career just yet.

"I've never hidden that I am grateful because Atletico gave me many things, but the reality is I am in another team and I have three more years on my contract," he told The Sun . "I have a lot of things to give to Chelsea and many things to prove to myself before returning home. Right now, returning to Atletico is not a reality."

Meanwhile, Torres has vowed to find his best form once again and reclaim a place in the Spanish national team after he was again dropped by coach Vincente Del Bosque for last month's round of World Cup qualifiers.

"I hope to be able to return to the national team," he added. "The first step is to do well at my club and that will give me more options of returning. I want to do well in order to return. We have a lot to win and many joys to give people and many tournaments to play with this generation. Of course getting back in to the national team is one of my objectives."
