'Upset' Valencia admits Man United are worried

Antonio Valencia says Manchester United are "a little worried" about letting their grip on the Premier League title slip.

United suffered a 2-1 loss at Old Trafford against second-placed Manchester City on Monday, but still boast a 12-point lead at the summit.

Sir Alex Ferguson's side paid the price for a downturn in form last season as they were pipped to the title by their rivals on the final day.

Reflecting on the pain of last season's failure and looking ahead to this term's run-in, Valencia has stressed the need for focus as they seek to wrap up a 20th league title.

He is quoted by Sporting Life as saying: "We're a little worried. Last year, having eight points with seven games to go, we lost the league and now we have seven games, 12 points and we don't want this to happen again.

"We want to finish off the two coming games as soon as possible, starting off in the right way and ending up victorious."

Valencia played the final 11 minutes of United's defeat against City, and the winger admitted to his disappointment at a limited role in such a high-profile game.

"They're the manager's decisions, but I was still a bit upset," he said. "In such an important game, to be not taken into account as a starter is upsetting.

"Ten minutes is very short for such a difficult game. The important thing is to come on and play, but you become restless for the next game."
