Chelsea - Tottenham game rearranged

Chelsea won't be playing in this season's FA Cup Final

Chelsea's home game against Tottenham, originally scheduled to be played on April 14, has been rescheduled for Wednesday May 8.

The fixture - which could be crucial in the race for Champions League football - could not be played on its original date because it clashed with the Blues' FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City at Wembley last weekend.

Chelsea are currently in fourth spot in the table and on the same 58 points as Tottenham one position behind them. However, Chelsea have a game in hand over Spurs.

And because Chelsea are through to the Europa League semi-finals, where they play Basel - who defeated Tottenham on penalties in the quarter-finals - few dates were available for the rearranged game.

A statement on Chelsea's official website said: "Our Barclays Premier League home match against Tottenham Hotspur, which was originally scheduled for Sunday, April 14, will now take place on Wednesday, May 8, kick-off 7.45pm.''

In another Chelsea fixture change, the league game against Swansea at Stamford Bridge has been moved back 24 hours to Sunday April 28 to accommodate the Europa League tie on the Thursday before.
