Hernandez growing frustrated with substitute role

Javier Hernandez has admitted he is beginning to grow frustrated at his regular substitute role for Manchester United.

Hernandez, 24, has made 17 Premier League appearances for United this season - but 10 of those have come from the bench. And the Mexican, who has eight league goals to his name, admits he would love to start more regularly.

"It is frustrating. All the players in the world want to start every single game, every week. Of course any player wants that," Hernandez said. "I'm happy to be at this club but I'd love more games.

"My attitude is that even when the gaffer wants me to be on the bench I'm going to do my best. I have to respect the club, Manchester United. But of course I would like to start more."

United have struggled to score with the same abandon they managed in the early part of the campaign, but Hernandez believes such ups and downs happen to every team.

"It's part of football," he added. "This can happen, sometimes you are scoring a lot of goals and sometimes a few. But we need to keep creating the chances and we will score."

Hernandez is confident United can take another important step towards the title with victory against West Ham on Wednesday.

He said: "It's important to keep the gap and win it as well as possible. The history and the level of Manchester United, even if you had a 12-point gap and lost three, it would not feel good. We want to win every single game."
