Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao has played down speculation that he is set for a move to Premier League champions-elect Manchester United.

Reports in Spain this week suggested that Sir Alex Ferguson's side were set to bring the Colombia international to Old Trafford in the summer.

Earlier this week, Ferguson rejected rumours that a deal to sign Falcao had been agreed. The forward has also been linked with a move to Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid, but said he was concentrating only on Atletico.

He told Colombian radio station RCN: "I do not really know where that information has come from. I have three years of my contract left, and then we will see what the club arrange and if there needs to be some change. We will see what my future is, but at the moment I am only thinking about Atleti.

"I try to stay away from all that [speculation] so that I do not lose concentration or focus on my objective, which at the moment is my club, Atletico. These rumours have never affected my performance."

He said he was also determined to do everything he could to help Colombia qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, adding: "The biggest dream I have is to play a World Cup and be a star.

"We have important games ahead against Peru and Argentina, and it is necessary to get good results because that would allow us to get closer to our goal, which is qualification."
