Ajax have said there is "no agreement" between the Dutch club and Liverpool regarding the sale of Christian Eriksen.

Eriksen, 21, has long been linked with a move away from Ajax, with a number of top European sides said to be interested in the Denmark international.

Recent speculation has suggested Eriksen is bound for Liverpool, amid talk of a deal having been struck ahead of the summer.

However, Ajax press manager Eefje Schep told Danish TV2, "We will send out a press release when there is an agreement, even if the agreement is just between the clubs. At the moment, there is no agreement between Ajax and Liverpool."

Asked whether that meant negotiations are taking place, she added: "Whether we are negotiating or otherwise, we do not comment on transfer rumours. Right now Christian Eriksen is focused on the end of the season and the very important games we still have to play."

Ajax technical director Marc Overmars did, however, reiterate that Eriksen is set to leave the club, the midfielder unwilling to extend his current contract, which expires in 2014.

"Christian has informed us that he won't be signing a new deal with us at this time," Overmars told Voetbal International. "I think that he and his agent will want to see what options are available in the summer."
