Manchester United will celebrate their 20th league title triumph with an open-top bus parade through the city on May 13, the club have confirmed.

United secured the 2012-13 championship with victory over Aston Villa on Monday, and will celebrate by taking the Premier League trophy around Manchester.

A statement on the club's official website confirmed a parade has been pencilled in for Monday May 13, starting at Old Trafford and ending in the city centre.

United will be presented with the trophy after their final home game of the season against Swansea on May 12, a day after rivals Manchester City compete in the FA Cup final against Wigan.

Sir Alex Ferguson's newly crowned champions are expected to receive a guard of honour before kick-off in their next Premier League game against Arsenal at Emirates Stadium, though reports have suggested that Gunners players are not keen on doing so.

It will be the first time Robin van Persie has returned to his former club since leaving North London for Manchester last summer.
