Wenger wants Arsenal desire
Arsene Wenger has called on Arsenal to show total desire and commitment as they continue their push for Champions League football against Manchester United.
United have held sway over Arsenal in recent seasons, but Wenger says his side will go into the game brimming with confidence on the back of a run of five wins from their past six games.
"We are on a very strong run," he said. "We have a good level of confidence and a great desire.
"We need total desire, commitment and focus to achieve what we want to achieve.
"What we know is that we will need a great performance to beat Manchester United. That's what we will focus on."
While Arsenal are fighting hard to secure a place in next season's Champions League, United will travel to London basking in the glory of having secured Premier League glory before the end of April.
Former Gunner Robin van Persie has played a huge part in United's march to the title. Arsenal have missed the Netherlands international, but Wenger says they have now moved on from Van Persie.
"You always miss a big player but now we are stabilised," Wenger said.
Much has been made of whether Arsenal will follow tradition and provide United with a guard of honour and it would appear Wenger wants to show respect.
He said: "I want the traditions of English football to be respected."
Wenger has confirmed Wojciech Szczesny will remain in goal for Arsenal's clash with Manchester United at the weekend.
The Polish keeper began the season as Arsenal's No. 1 but lost his place to Lukasz Fabianski following a run of indifferent displays.
Arsenal have performed well with Fabianski in goal and are well placed to seal a place in the top four, but Fabianski has been ruled out on account of a rib injury.
