Tony Pulis' determination to start next season as Stoke City manager has been underlined by his involvement in planning the club's pre-season preparations in America.

Pulis has spent several weeks, along with assistant Dave Kemp and chief executive Tony Scholes mapping out a similar schedule to last summer's visit to the USA.

Pulis has also confirmed to close allies he intends to meet with club chairman Peter Coates as soon as Stoke's Premier League status has been confirmed to discuss his budget for new signings next season.

The 55-year-old wants to discover whether he will have the funds to bid for PSV Eindhoven defender Erik Pieters, FC Copenhagen forward Andreas Cornelius and Reading's Adam Le Fondre.

Pulis will also be seeking other assurances from Coates, regarding matters he is "unhappy" with, following the departure of close ally and long-serving director of football John Rudge, but expects to extend his seven-year reign with the club.

Scholes has revealed Stoke will be returning to the United States for a 10-day tour that will form part of their build-up to the 2013-14 season, which will include a friendly against Brek Shea's former club FC Dallas.

"The tour to the United States was extremely successful last year," Scholes said. "First and foremost in achieving our primary objective of helping to prepare the squad for the season ahead.

"The football management and players were impressed with the high standard of the opposition for all three games, as well as the quality of the training facilities.

"The transfer of Brek Shea subsequently presented an opportunity for us to play a match against his former club which is where we will be heading as part of this tour.

"It's also a good time to be going back with an exciting feature of the new television agreement being NBC's coverage which will enhance the Premier League's profile in the United States.

"If there is one market right now where we can develop our own profile, then it has to be America due to the presence of three US internationals in our squad."
