Sevilla midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia is on Arsenal's summer shopping list, Arsene Wenger has confirmed.

Kondogbia, 20, has caught the attention of a number of clubs with some commanding performances after moving to La Liga from Lens last summer. The Sun report that the Arsenal boss is keen to add a defensive midfielder to his ranks.

The Gunners have struggled in that position with Abou Diaby again a long-term casualty to injury, while Sevilla president Jose Maria Del Nido has previously admitted the club may be forced to sell the player.

When asked about his interest in the France Under-20 international, Wenger said: "I don't really want to talk about Kondogbia too much because everyone's after him at the moment.

"When you ask 'Are you also interested?' what do you expect me to say?"

Meanwhile, the player himself has told French station Telefoot that Real Madrid would be his preferred destination should he leave Sevilla.

"It is always a pleasure to know that they are following you and they want you," Kondogbia said. "Real Madrid? That makes me dream but it is only a rumour at the moment. With clubs like that I can play in the Champions League. A preference? Since I was small, Real Madrid."

Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, Milan and Inter Milan have all previously linked with the box-to-box midfielder, who has impressed at Sevilla since joining for €3 million from Lens in summer 2012.

Third-party investment fund the Doyen Group reportedly paid 50 per cent of that transfer fee, and are likely to profit handsomely from any future transfer.
