Ronaldo quiet on United return talk

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has refused to be drawn on speculation linking him with a return to Manchester United.

Persistent speculation in the Madrid media has claimed that Ronaldo, whose current Real deal runs until June 2015, was seeking a new, improved contract at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu - while reports in England claim United are planning a summer bid.

Speaking with reporters after Madrid's 2-0 win on the night had seen them lose out 4-3 on aggregate to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, the attacker said contract talks were far from his mind at that moment and winning games and trophies - not higher wages - was what he always sought.

"I have two more years on my contract, I am not concerned about that," Ronaldo said. "I want to win wherever I am. That is what I want most, I am not concerned about renewing."

Ronaldo's future has often been linked with that of current Madrid boss Jose Mourinho, especially as the two Portuguese share an agent in Jorge Mendes. Asked about the former Chelsea manager's post-game hints that he would return to England next season, Ronaldo was clear that he did not know Mourinho's future plans, nor was the matter on his mind.

"I do not know," he said. "Sincerely, I do not know. I do not have to talk about other people, I am just concerned about the team and myself and that is all. The future of other players, or other coaches, does not concern me."

Ronaldo, who is nearing the end of his fourth season with the Liga giants, reflected on a third successive Champions League semi-final exit and said he hoped Madrid's long awaited tenth European crown arrived soon.

"I am leaving here not happy, but knowing that we are a great team and could have been in the final," he said. "It is one more year not making the final, but we must congratulate Dortmund. Madrid will surely have another chance to win La Decima, it could be next year."
