Paris Saint-Germain assistant coach Paul Clement has spoken of his delight at David Beckham's influence and hopes he will accept the club's offer to stay on next season.

Beckham, who turns 38 on Thursday, arrived at PSG in January after leaving LA Galaxy, and there had been significant doubts as to his ability to make an on-field contribution.

However, he has made 12 appearances for Carlo Ancelotti's men, appearing in both legs of the Champions League quarter-final with Barcelona, and has been offered the chance to remain with the Ligue 1 leaders next season.

Clement, who had previously worked with Ancelotti on the Chelsea coaching staff, says the former England international's attitude has been exemplary.

He told beIN Sport: "Everyone was excited when they knew he was coming because he had a fantastic rep as a pro and a man and great quality on the field still.

"He's been a breath of fresh air here. He gets on with everyone, first out to training, last one back in, real enthusiasm for the game. You know after 20 years of playing at the top level, he still loves his football and hopefully he'll be able to continue for a little bit longer."

He added: "The club have made it clear that they'd like him to stay on, but he's made it clear that's he's going to have a think about it at the end of the season, talk to his family, see how his body feels. If he feels fresh I'm sure he'll continue."
