Alan Pardew has called on his Newcastle United side to repay the fans' faith when they travel to West Ham United on Saturday.

Newcastle slumped to a 6-0 defeat to Liverpool on Saturday that leaves them 17th in the Premier League, only five points ahead of Wigan, who have a game in hand.

Newcastle have won only one game on the road this season, but Pardew hopes the 3,000 travelling fans will be rewarded for their loyalty at Upton Park.

"We need to show them something," Pardew told the Evening Chronicle. "We need to show them we're much better than our record suggests.

"Our record isn't good enough away from home, we know that, and it's got to improve dramatically if we're going to stay up."

Pardew was also keen to thank the home fans for their support and remains confident that they will continue to back the team, despite the team taking only one win from their last six games.

"The away fans have been absolutely terrific, and of course we have had phenomenal support at home with sell-out crowds," Pardew said. "I know they won't turn on us - they love the club so much. We need to make sure we give them something back."
