Benitez and Van Persie collect monthly awards

Rafael Benitez and Robin van Persie have been named the Premier League Manager and Player of the Month for April respectively.

Amid a hectic fixture schedule due to the club's Europa League commitments, Benitez has helped to guide Chelsea to third place in the Premier League table, claiming ten points from a possible 12.

Chelsea have overcome Swansea City, Fulham and Sunderland, while drawing at Liverpool, ahead of their forthcoming trip to newly-crowned champions Manchester United.

United's top goalscorer Van Persie has also been rewarded for a productive April, as he was named Player of the Month for the second time this season.

The Netherlands international scored six goals in five matches for the Red Devils, with the arguable highlight his hat-trick versus Aston Villa that wrapped up the title.
