Terry: I'd not leave Chelsea for Prem League rivals

John Terry insists he would never play for another Premier League club should Chelsea decide to sell him.

The Blues captain has one year remaining on his contract, and believes that his admiration for the West London club would stop him signing for a Premier League rival.

The Barking-born defender has come through the ranks at Stamford Bridge, beginning his career with the club in August 1997 after signing as a trainee.

In March 2000 Terry spent a five-match spell on loan at Nottingham Forest, before returning to begin his rise through the system and establish himself as one of the most important figures during the Roman Abramovich revolution.

After winning consecutive League titles in 2005 and 2006, Terry was appointed England captain before eventually losing the armband following off-field controversies.

Terry has amassed over 500 appearances for Chelsea and scored 55 goals in his time at the club, and has suggested a possible switch to management once he calls time on his career.

"I have a year left on my contract," 32-year-old Terry told Marca. "We will see what happens.

"I know I would never play for another Premier League club because I love Chelsea too much, but if the club does not want me to stay I will look for somewhere else.

"Later on, I would like to be a manager although that would mean seeing less of the wife and kids."
