Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has hit out at claims that he is set to lose his job if he is unable to secure victory in the FA Cup final this weekend.

City meet Wigan at Wembley on Saturday in a match that represents Mancini's last opportunity to claim a major honour this season.

With last year's Premier League champions having relinquished their crown to rivals Manchester United this term it has been suggested that defeat at Wembley could signal the end of the Italian's reign at the Etihad Stadium.

Mancini, however, is adamant that he will still be around at the club next season regardless of the result on Saturday.

"These are fantasy stories from the English press. It's absolutely not true and I have never been worrying about them," he told Gazzetta dello Sport. "They criticise me because of the second place, but if this is the reason, all the Premier League managers should be sacked apart from Alex Ferguson, who won the Premier League, and [Michael] Laudrup, who won the League Cup."

The City boss feels he has been treated unfairly by the press given his track record of having secured the Premier League title, the FA Cup and the Community Shield since arriving at the club in 2009.

"The real reason why they act like this is because I am an Italian manager and because City broke the cartel," he said. "Until a couple of years ago, English football and its earnings were in the hands of Man United, Chelsea and Arsenal. Now there is also City and this annoys someone. From 2011 to date, City have won three trophies and if we will win this FA Cup the trophies could be four - not too bad for a club that hasn't been winning for 35 years."
