Uruguay striker Luis Suarez will face no further action from FIFA despite being caught on camera punching Chile defender Gonzalo Jara during a World Cup qualifier in March.

Suarez and Jara clashed at a corner in the match which Chile won 2-0 to leave Uruguay's hopes of qualifying for Brazil 2014 hanging in the balance.

On Thursday the Uruguayan FA published a fax sent by FIFA to confirm there would be no charge for misconduct.

"The matter in question does not require the intervention of the FIFA disciplinary committee and therefore the disciplinary procedure in question is declared closed," it read.

AUF president Sebastian Bauza said he hopes Suarez will learn from his mistakes: "It's very good news for Luis, the national team and for the whole group.

"We understand that from now on, Luis should realise that he will be watched from all sides and we hope that this experience, when added to others, will be useful, so that he becomes the player will all want him to be."

Last month Bauza insisted Suarez was being "persecuted" by football's authorities. Suarez is already suspended for Uruguay's next World Cup qualifier, away to Venezuela on June 11, due to accumulated yellow cards.
