De Bruyne could make Leverkusen loan move

Kevin de Bruyne looks set to join Bayer Leverkusen on loan next season, according to club CEO Wolfgang Holzhauser.

Chelsea loanee De Bruyne, 21, has attracted a number of suitors after enjoying an impressive campaign at Werder Bremen.

Both Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund are interested in acquiring his services for next season, but Holzhauser is confident that his side now lead the race for the Belgium international.

"We assume that we will be able to take him on loan. In no case do Chelsea want to sell him," he told kicker.

This would appear to end Dortmund's hopes of signing the midfielder, who were reportedly ready to offer €15 million to Chelsea for a permanent transfer.

A loan deal with Leverkusen would make way for Andre Schurrle to move in the opposite direction to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are believed to have already agreed a deal with the German club, however, Holzhauser has denied this is the case.

"Primarily we are interested in keeping Andre," he said. "We will only let him leave if we have alternatives."

The Leverkusen chief did say, though, that negotiations between the two clubs were progressing well.

Meanwhile, Leverkusen top scorer Stefan Kiessling has told Sport 1 he is not worried about the possible departure of Schurrle.

"Over the past few years we have lost good players every once in a while, but then a new one comes in," he said. "That's football. We will for sure find the right man again."
