Brighton boss Gus Poyet says he may be open to approaches after admitting he may have taken his side as far as he can - with Everton rumoured to be interested in the Uruguayan.

Poyet's side missed out on a place in the Championship play-off final when they lost 2-0 on aggregate to rivals Crystal Palace, sparking rumours that he may be considering life away from the Amex Stadium.

And Poyet, who has been linked to jobs at Leeds and Reading in the last 12 months, refused to give any assurances about whether he will remain in his post next season.

"I've not been in this situation but I don't like it," Poyet said. "It's changed my view completely about everything I was prepared for, so we'll see now.

"I have always said that all the time we keep improving I am going to be at this football club and the day we hit the roof, I'm not.

"Is there something more? Right now I don't know, so I need to make sure I know there is, because if not I am not going to stay forever."

Premier League side Everton are on the hunt for a new manager after David Moyes accepted Manchester United's offer to take over from Sir Alex Ferguson.
