Michu has dismissed suggestions that he could leave Swansea in the summer, saying he is happy to stay at the Liberty Stadium.

The Swans' top scorer, who joined from Real Vallecano for £2.2 million in the summer, has been linked with a host of clubs in both the Premier League and Europe after a sensational debut season.

He has hit 22 goals to help Swansea to the Capital One Cup - meaning they will play in the Europa League next season - and a top-half league position, and said he had never expected the campaign to go so well.

Now both the player and his manager, Michael Laudrup, have responded to speculation about his future by insisting he will be going nowhere.

"I've seen articles on the internet, but I'm very happy here," Michu told the South Wales Evening Post. "I only think about playing next Sunday [at home to Fulham on the final day of the league season].

"I'm happy on the pitch and in this team. Swansea fans do not need to worry.

"I am very happy at the club, and I want to say thank you to everyone at the club because we have all enjoyed this season."

The striker said he was relishing the chance to play in European competition next season, adding: "We start on August 1, but it's good for us because we will play a lot of official games before the league season starts. It will be the first time in Europe for me."
