Christian Benteke's representatives have confirmed the striker is attracting interest from Borussia Dortmund as a potential replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

Poland international Lewandowski is a target for Manchester United and Champions League final opponents Bayern Munich and is expected to leave Dortmund at the end of the season.

Dortmund have been linked with a move for Manchester City's Edin Dzeko as a potential replacement, but Aston Villa striker Benteke is high on their list of candidates.

Benteke's agent Eris Kismet, who was at Villa Park for Sunday's 2-1 defeat by Chelsea, in which the Belgium international was dismissed for two yellow cards, has confirmed Dortmund chief transfer negotiator Michael Zorc was present for the game.

"I am aware of the Dortmund representation at Villa Park for the Chelsea match, but Christian is still a Villa player and nothing has changed on that point," Kismet said.

"There were a lot of scouts from many teams who have an interest in Christian. Now Aston Villa's future in the Premier League is decided we will know more.

"It is natural for many teams to show an interest when Christian has had such a good season and scored many goals, but it is his first season in the Premier League."

Benteke's 19 Premier League goals in his first season since his £7 million arrival from Genk has attracted interest from Arsenal and Tottenham, who are both keen to lure the striker to North London in the summer.

He is suspended for their final game of the season against relegated Wigan on Sunday - but manager Paul Lambert insists he has not played his final game for the club.

Lambert has made it his priority to keep the player who has done most in their battle to retain Premier League status this season and has spoken recently about opening negotiations on an improved deal once Villa's Premier League safety has been secured.
