Chelsea look set to miss out on Radamel Falcao, with Monaco goalkeeper Danijel Subasic claiming a deal is "90 per cent" done to take the Atletico Madrid striker to the Ligue 1-bound club.

Europa League winners Chelsea have long been linked with free-scoring striker Falcao, while Real Madrid are also said to hold an interest, but it appears Monaco, owned by billionaire Russian owner Dmitry Rybolovlev, are in front in the race.

It is reported that Monaco will pay in excess of £50m for the Colombia international and Subasic insists a deal is imminent, claiming a number of big names will join the club next season.

"I will tell you what I have heard, and that is that Falcao is 90 per cent at Monaco," he told Sportske Novosti. "For sure, it is what they have told us, with only a small possibility that Monaco could only lose him if Real Madrid were to come in, but that is now unlikely.

"If he does not leave for the Bernabeu, he will come to Monaco. Securing promotion to Ligue 1 is said to be only the beginning.

"The club's plan is to sign five or six of the best players they can."
