Moyes begins work at Manchester United

David Moyes has said he will be "doing two jobs at once" as he begins his Manchester United reign while overseeing the first steps of the transition to a new era at Everton.

Moyes took charge of his final Everton game as they lost 2-1 at Chelsea on the final day of the Premier League season.

He travelled to United's Carrington training ground on Monday but has said he will also help Everton chairman Bill Kenwright to manage the Goodison Park succession if asked.

"I'll probably be doing two jobs for the next week or so," he said. "I'll go into Finch Farm [the Everton training ground] some of the days next week and make sure everything's in place for whoever the incoming manager is.

"Most of it is anyway - but I'll just make sure that everything's as ready as I can leave it."

Moyes said he was sad to be leaving Everton after 11 years, adding: "Look at the players. I bought every one of them, except Tony Hibbert and Leon Osman, who were already here.

"I hope every one of them will think it was worthwhile joining Everton. I think the group of players they've got are a top group of players."

The manager officially takes over as United boss on July 1, with one of his first priorities likely to be sorting out the future of Wayne Rooney, whom he brought through the ranks at Everton.

Earlier this month, Sir Alex Ferguson said Rooney had requested a transfer - with that request being rejected - but it has since been reported that the England forward is willing to hold talks with Moyes.

Moyes is also set to decide on the composition of his backroom staff, with his Everton assistant manager Steve Round, coach Jimmy Lumsden and former United player Phil Neville tipped to follow him to Old Trafford.

Last week, he said he had not given any undertakings to Kenwright about not taking staff with him from Goodison.
