Ferdinand could extend stay at United
Rio Ferdinand could sign a new contract with Manchester United by the end of the week, according to his representatives.
Ferdinand, 34, has expressed a keen desire to remain at Old Trafford beyond the end of his current deal which expires this summer.
He recently told MUTV that he would "like to be part of United's bright future" after collecting a sixth Premier League winners' medal with the club.
Widespread media reports at the weekend added that new United manager David Moyes had sanctioned the stay of the former England international defender to be extended for a 12th season.
"Talks regarding Rio's new contract are moving along nicely and hopefully we will have some news soon," Ferdinand's advisors told Sky Sports News.
