Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has revealed his club have opened talks with Manchester City over the futures of Edin Dzeko and Edinson Cavani.

Dzeko has been linked with a move from Eastlands this summer, while City are believed to hold an interest in signing Uruguay striker Cavani.

De Laurentiis, a film producer, had been in England to promote his biopic about Apple founder Steve Jobs, but he used the visit - along with sporting director Riccardo Bigon and club administrator Andrea Chiavelli - to enter talks with City about the two forwards.

"I told Bigon: 'Go to see City to negotiate for Dzeko and to see what they are willing to do to sign Cavani'," he said in Gazzetta dello Sport. "Everyone is talking, but when you're dealing with economic issues everything takes a while."

There had been speculation that De Laurentiis was in the capital to speak to Rafael Benitez as he seeks a replacement for coach Walter Mazzarri, who has announced his resignation.

Benitez is available after guiding Chelsea to third place as well as Europa League success, and has suggested he would be interested in the post, but it would appear there were no talks with the Spaniard.

"I did not go to London to speak to Benitez," he told the Italian media. "Yesterday, I was in London with Bigon and Chiavelli for a simple reason: to prepare for the release of the film about Steve Jobs."
