Arsenal have announced that midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has undergone knee surgery and is set to be out for around two months.

Frimpong, 21, sustained the injury during Fulham's 3-0 win at Swansea City on Sunday, having joined the West London club on loan in January.

The Ghana international, who made just two appearances for Arsenal this season, has previously suffered with knee trouble.

Frimpong confirmed he had gone under the knife on Twitter while also thanking Fulham for their support during his loan spell.

Arsenal said on their official website: "Frimpong will now begin his rehabilitation and is expected to return to training in around two months' time. We wish Manny the best of luck in his recovery."
