Vincent Kompany has vowed to stay at Manchester City next season, insisting he still has "unfinished business" at the Etihad Stadium.

Kompany has been linked with Monaco and Barcelona in recent weeks but is adamant he is going nowhere.

He wrote on Twitter: "Speculations and questions about next season. I'm not going anywhere. I love playing for City and I've still got some unfinished business."

It represents another boost for the 2012 Premier League champions as they prepare to appoint Manuel Pellegrini as the successor to the sacked Roberto Mancini.

Sergio Aguero has signed a one-year contract extension to keep him at the Etihad Stadium while, earlier this season, Yaya Toure and David Silva also signed deals until 2017.

Kompany, 27, joined City from Hamburg for £6 million in 2008 and replaced Carlos Tevez as captain three years later.

The Belgium international captained them to the Premier League title last season and, having married a City supporter from Manchester, has settled down in England.
