Heynckes: Lewandowski will move to Bayern

Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes has indicated that Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski is set for a move to the Allianz Arena.

It has been speculated for some time that Lewandowski, whose contract has a year to run, will make the switch to the Bundesliga champions - with the Polish international also heavily linked to Manchester United.

German newspaper Bild reported in April that Bayern had agreed terms on two contracts - one that would come into effect this summer and another that would come into effect in a year's time.

Bayern denied that report at the time, but rumours have persisted that, having already controversially secured the signature of Dortmund star Mario Gotze, they would move to sign the 24-year-old Poland international.

Heynckes, who will this summer be replaced as coach by Pep Guardiola, told reporters after his team's 2-1 victory over Dortmund in the Champions League final at Wembley that Lewandowski will soon make the move to Munich.

"Mario Gotze is already there, and Robert Lewandowski will not have to wait too long now," he said. "Then the team has two top-class attacking players. It is quite possible that, with the right signings, Bayern could create a new era in Europe."

Dortmund have indicated that Bayern have yet to make an official offer for Lewandowski, and coach Jurgen Klopp said on Saturday night that he was still in the dark over the situation.

"I don't know where he will play next season," Klopp said. "At the moment I would just say: he is with us."

The player himself refused to give anything away when he was asked about his intentions.

"I have a few days off and then I'll join up with the national team," Lewandowski said. "After that it's a holiday, and then we'll see."

Asked whether he would be joining up with Dortmund for pre-season training on July 3, he smiled: "I will not be there, because I have a slightly longer holiday."

Rumours are also circulating that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirmed Lewandowski has signed for Bayern while commentating on the Champions League final for French television.
