Romelu Lukaku hopes to make his mark for Chelsea next season but will seek a loan move if he is not given assurances of first-team football.

Lukaku, who joined Chelsea from Anderlecht in 2011, struggled to make an impact during his debut season in England, but he netted 17 Premier League goals this season during a loan spell at West Bromwich Albion.

It remains to be seen whether the Blues, who are expected to announce the return of Jose Mourinho in the coming days, intend to send him out for a further spell, but the Belgium international is determined to secure regular football.

"It's up to me and it's up the manager as well," Lukaku told talkSPORT when asked about his future. "I think I have to first have a conversation and to see what his plans are and then, you know, we'll see from there, but I'm ready to go over there and do my best.

"It's always been my first ambition to play over there but I have to be realistic I'm 20 years old and I need to play, so we'll see what will happen.

"I'm very proud to be a Chelsea player. I think I've had a very good season on loan so now I will go back over there and show my qualities. Hopefully I will stay there but in football you never know, so we'll see what will happen in the future."
