Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez could be set for a move to the Premier League with Manchester City and Chelsea in the race, according to Stuttgarter Zeitung.

Gomez, 27, had earlier this week been linked with a switch to Serie A, with both Fiorentina and Napoli reportedly voicing their interest in the Germany international.

The player's agent, Uli Ferber, confirmed the Naples club's interest but denied there have been any talks between the two parties.

"We have never negotiated with this club," Ferber told Stuttgarter Zeitung.

The same paper goes on to report that Gomez will not head to Italy, but rather make a move to the Premier League, with City or Chelsea the most likely destination.

Ferber, who will meet with Bayern officials on Wednesday to discuss the future of his client, said: "The direction will be clear in the next three or four days."

According to the paper, with new Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho favouring a different kind of striker to target man Gomez, City are favourites to sign the former Stuttgart man.

Ferber said: "We will decide the best solution - without hurry."
