Robert Lewandowski has admitted he is close to joining the club of his choice - but stopped short of revealing their identity.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with the 24-year-old Dortmund striker, but German and European champions Bayern Munich have reportedly already reached an agreement with the Poland international.

Outgoing Bayern boss Jupp Heynckes suggested a deal was already in place after last month's Champions League final, while one of Lewandowski's agents said he expected a transfer to be completed in the coming weeks.

But although fresh details of a move have yet to surface, Lewandowski says he is on the verge of getting the transfer he wants.

"I'd like to think that now everything has been resolved and I will be able to join the club of my choice," he told SportBild.

Lewandowski, currently preparing for Poland's World Cup qualifier in Moldova on Friday, went on to praise the club he has been at since 2010, but believes he is ready for a new chapter in his career.

"Dortmund is a fantastic club, which I will always admire," he said. "But for my future I am wishing for a new challenge."

Earlier this week, WAZ reported that Lewandowski, who has one more year left to run on his Dortmund contract, had already begun clearing out his home in the city.
