Chelsea reach revised agreement for Schurrle - reports

Chelsea have reached an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen over the signing of Andre Schurrle, according to reports in Germany.

It had been reported in Die Welt that the deal had stalled and Germany international Schurrle could remain at Leverkusen for a further year.

However, Express and Sky Germany have now claimed that the clubs have agreed a fee - thought to be in the region of €20 million - and that the player is set to sign a five-year deal.

Chelsea's Kevin de Bruyne, whom Leverkusen had been keen to sign as part of the agreement, is not believed to have been included in the revised deal. The Belgium international is said to be determined to join Borussia Dortmund, which had seemingly complicated the negotiations.

Schurrle took part in a farewell match for Michael Ballack on Wednesday night, with his potential new coach, Jose Mourinho, also present in Leipzig. Asked about the Schurrle deal, the Chelsea coach replied: "We will see."

Mourinho coached the World XI team that Schurrle played in, and afterwards the player told MDR: "Of course I talked to him. He is my coach after all."
