Redknapp expects Bale to stay at Tottenham
Harry Redknapp believes Gareth Bale will not join Real Madrid this summer, even though he is the third best player in the world behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The former Tottenham manager said that Bale, who has been heavily linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu, will stay put for at least one more season.
"Gareth won't want to leave. He's not an over-ambitious lad," he told TalkSPORT.
"He wants to be successful, obviously, but he's not someone I can see moving to Real Madrid at this stage in his life.
"His football is going great, he's PFA Footballer of the Year and loved in this country by football fans who know the game. He's very happy at Tottenham and I can see him staying for at least another year."
However, Redknapp added that at some point Bale will move on from Tottenham to one of the biggest clubs in the world, as he claimed the player is talented enough to play for any team he wants.
"Eventually he'll feel it's time to give it a go abroad, somewhere like Barcelona or Real Madrid, because he is capable of playing anywhere," he said.
"He is the third best player in the world at the moment, behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo."
In order to keep Bale long-term Tottenham will have to improve on the fifth-placed Premier League finish which saw them fail to qualify for the Champions League.
But Redknapp has warned his former side that will not be easy with all the teams above them looking to add to their squad this summer.
"Chelsea and Man City will get better and Arsenal have got to get better," he said.
"They scraped into the Champions League this year but it's an Arsenal team that is nowhere near some of the last 10-15 years.
"It's the poorest Arsenal team I've seen in a few years. I don't think they'll get away with that next year. They'll need to improve in the summer."
