Martinez will turn to Moyes for advice

Incoming Everton boss Roberto Martinez says he will approach David Moyes for advice as he prepares to take the reins at Goodison Park.

Moyes departed the Toffees to join Manchester United last month, and his successor - coming to the club from relegated Wigan - admits guidance from the Scot is likely to prove invaluable moving forward.

"I'd be foolish not to take that opportunity," Martinez is quoted as saying in The Sun.

"I have real respect for David, what he achieved here is something I admire. I wouldn't want to be so cheeky as to do it without him offering but I will definitely be doing so now he has. I will be picking his brain on everything."

Chairman Bill Kenwright also confirmed Moyes will continue to help his former club in whatever way he can, though presumably not when Everton are set to take on United.

"David and I talk all the time. He talked to me last night from New York and said, 'Tell Roberto I am here for him'.

"He remembered what it was like coming from Preston and it is not dissimilar [for Martinez]," Kenwright explained.
