Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye has told Canal+ he is open to a move to Manchester United and believes it would be "an interesting challenge".

Despite the Magpies' brush with relegation last term, Cabaye still enjoyed an impressive season.

Such form has led to the France international being linked with a number of clubs from around Europe, including United, Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco.

And when asked whether he would be interested in a move to Old Trafford, Cabaye said: "Yes of course, I've liked this club for a long time, I like what they do, the boss [Sir Alex Ferguson] has left but they have appointed a very good successor, and he [David Moyes] did some very good things with Everton.

"They are always well placed among the big clubs. Yes for sure it could be an interesting challenge."

Cabaye, however, insists he has yet to speak to anyone regarding a move away from St James' Park, but says he would be willing to listen to any offers.

"I have had no direct contact with anyone, maybe my agents are currently in the know," he said.

"As for me, I am here, listening. I like England as well. I will need to look at the situation but you never know."
