United agree Varela deal
Manchester United have reached an agreement with Uruguayan outfit Club Atletico Penarol to sign defender Guillermo Varela for an undisclosed fee.
Varela, 20, who confirmed earlier on Friday that he was heading to Manchester for a medical, will immediately join up with the Uruguay squad for the upcoming Under-20 World Championships in Turkey.
Penarol club treasurer Rodolfo Catino revealed that the two clubs have agreed a deal worth up to €2.8 million.
The right-back, who has made one senior appearance for the Uruguayan side, spent the final weeks of last season on trial at United, and did enough to persuade the Red Devils to make an offer.
