Yorke urges United to keep Rooney

Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke believes it would be folly if the Old Trafford club let current star Wayne Rooney leave the Premier League.

Rooney has been rumoured to be leaving the Red Devils since the final months of last season and, recently, overtures from France have many believing a move to Paris Saint-Germain will eventuate this summer.

But Yorke has insisted United have never been a club to discard their best talent.

"There's always speculation with Wayne Rooney," Yorke told talkSPORT.

"This year he hasn't played his best football but I'm sure he can turn that around.

"Manchester United are about retaining the best players and Rooney is one of those. It would be a huge disappointment if he decided to leave the football club and I'm sure David Moyes will be looking to keep hold of him."
