Real Madrid president Florentino Perez says his club would not hesitate to spend £85 million on Tottenham star Gareth Bale.

Bale has been heavily linked with the Liga giants in recent weeks, and Perez has become more vocal in his admiration of the Wales international.

Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas remains hopeful a deal can be struck to keep Bale at White Hart Lane next season, but Perez's latest comments in an interview with Spanish newspaper Marca indicate Real will let nothing stand in their way.

"For those players and investments that generate and produce income, you can give everything in life," Perez told Marca .

"I showed in 2000 that with those players you change the dynamic and go from losing to winning. But we don't speak of Bale so much because he plays at a friendly club to us and they will be annoyed if we speak. I know their chairman well and he doesn't like these things."

Real are aiming to strengthen their squad after losing their domestic crown to Barcelona last season and bowing out in the Champions League semi-finals at the hands of Borussia Dortmund.
