Iago Aspas is expected to complete his £7.7 million move to Liverpool from Celta Vigo after undergoing a medical at the club's Melwood training ground on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old arrived on Merseyside on Monday night after cancelling a holiday in the Caribbean to help ease the deal through more quickly, and has agreed personal terms.

Liverpool agreed a fee for the striker at the end of May, but the move was held up briefly over an outstanding bonus payment owed to the striker from Celta, after he helped them to avoid relegation from the Spanish top flight on the final day of the season.

Aspas, who can play as a main forward, a second striker or out wide, broke into Celta Vigo's first team in 2008, having graduated from their youth set-up.

The forward scored 12 goals for Celta in the first campaign back in the Primera Liga after five years in the second tier, and was reportedly a target for Valencia and Swansea, as well as teams in Portugal and Italy.

He will become the second signing of the summer for Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, who has agreed to bring in out-of-contract Manchester City central defender Kolo Toure on a free transfer.
