Martinez wants Neville at Everton despite Utd links
New Everton manager Roberto Martinez is planning talks with Phil Neville over a possible coaching role.
Neville announced his retirement last week after ending an eight-year playing stint at Goodison Park.
The former Everton captain, 36, has been in Israel as part of the England coaching set-up at the European Under-21 Championships.
He has been linked with a return to his first club Manchester United, where David Moyes has been appointed as manager after 11 years in charge at Everton.
Martinez, who was named as Moyes' replacement last Wednesday after leaving Wigan, wants to bring several members of his backroom team with him from the DW Stadium.
But he is interested in finding a role for Neville, who was interviewed for the Everton manager's job after Moyes confirmed he would be leaving.
Martinez told Everton's website: "I think Phil Neville is an Everton icon and I think he can bring a lot into his time as a coach. I really want to speak with him and see how he feels about his future."
