Mata brushes off Chelsea exit talk

Juan Mata has played down speculation about a move away from Chelsea and insisted he remains very happy at the club.

Mata, David Luiz and Fernando Torres are reportedly players that new Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho would be willing to sell in order to raise funds to strengthen other areas of his squad.

But in an interview with Marca, the Spain international, who is currently preparing to participate in the Confederations Cup, has said he does not believe his new manager has plans to offload him.

He said: "Nobody at Chelsea has told me that Mourinho wants me out. When I finished the season I was told that they were very happy with my performances and with the two years I've spent with the club. I have three years left on my contract. I'm very happy with Chelsea."

When asked about the prospect of working under two-time Champions League winner Mourinho during his second spell at Stamford Bridge, Mata was cagey.

He said: "Mourinho? I'd prefer to wait until I meet him and work with him before I judge him. That's simple logic."

Following the appointment of the Portuguese coach, Chelsea have been installed by many as favourites to win the Premier League. Mata, who has won three cups in his two seasons at the club, says it is their objective to win the title next season.

"We still need to win the Premier League," he added. "It's something I'd really like to do. It must be a great feeling to win a title that so many teams with so much history compete for."
