Sam Allardyce has revealed Andy Carroll will make a decision on whether to sign for West Ham "by the end of next week."

The England international was on loan at the Hammers from Liverpool during the previous campaign - where he scored seven times and inspired the side to a tenth-place finish in the Premier League.

Should he make the move permanent to Upton Park Carroll would earn a reported £100,000-a-week in a six-year deal for around £15 million.

Allardyce is currently on holiday, as is Carroll, and the manager insists the 24-year-old knows the choice he wants him to make.

"We are both out of the country but most of the negotiations are done and the financial agreement between us and Liverpool is in place," Allardyce told the Sunday People.

"It's about communicating with Andy and his agent between London, here in Spain where I am and Florida where Andy is.

"I've no real need to speak to him over his decision. I've spoken to him enough times so he knows what I think and it's up to him. He's back in the next few days so we should have a definitive answer by the end of next week."
