Utd target Strootman sets sights on Prem move

Manchester United target Kevin Strootman wants to move to the Premier League, his agent has revealed.

Strootman, 23, who has just returned from leading Netherlands to the semi-finals of the European Under-21 Championship, has been linked with a summer move away from his homeland.

Serie A side Napoli are the latest to be linked with the PSV Eindhoven midfielder, who has three years left on his contract, while United have also been touted as a possible destination.

Strootman's agent, Chiel Dekker, has confirmed clubs from France and Russia have also expressed an interest in his client. However, he says the player has his heart set on a move to England.

"He is focused on England because that would suit his style," Dekker told ITV.

"He has the physique, the character and the fitness for it. I am certainly not afraid he could handle that level."

United's chief scout Jim Lawlor watched Strootman in action against Russia during the Under-21 Championship, although the Red Devils have yet to make an offer for the midfielder.

"Kevin has ambition but it is not in my hands," Dekker said. "From PSV it would have to be a step up to a good club.

"It is not simple though because the price will be expensive and not many teams can afford him. The clubs know what he can do now. It is up to them whether they want to reach an agreement with PSV and take him."
