Utd would need 'sensational offer' to land Marchisio

Juventus director Beppe Marotta insists midfielder Claudio Marchisio will not be sold this summer, despite reported interest from Manchester United.

The Italy international - currently on duty with the Azzurri at the Confederations Cup in Brazil - has stated his desire to explore options outside of Turin, but Marotta has declared Juventus will not listen to offers.

"We won't sell him," Marotta exclaimed to calciomercato.

"It seems to me that the clearest demonstration about Marchisio's importance to Juventus was the contract renewal we signed in September 2012 until June 2017 which changed his salary.

"We would only review the situation if a sensational offer arrived that wasn't in line with the market and that, until this moment, hasn't arrived."

Meanwhile, fellow Juventus and Italy midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini is also going nowhere this summer, according to his agent Furio Valcareggi.

"His future will definitely be at Juventus," Valcareggi told calciomercato. "There has never been even a half problem with Juventus and there is no reason for him to leave.

"We haven't discussed a [contract] renewal yet, but that is also because there is no urgency to seeing as he still has two years left on his contract.

"Boss Antonio Conte is satisfied with him and the boy is very happy with the Bianconeri. He has won two Scudetti in two seasons, collecting more than 20 appearances in the last campaign. We have to be happy with that."
