Scottish champions Celtic are hoping to bolster their central defensive options and could bring in two more players.

Hoops manager Neil Lennon wants to bring in Cedric Mongongu from Evian as he prepares for a defensive reshuffle at Cetic Park.

With Thomas Rogne on his way out, Efe Ambrose returning late because of his involvement in the Confederations Cup and Rami Gershon moving on at the end of a loan spell, Lennon needs cover.

And he hopes Mongongu, a 23-year-old Democratic Republic of Congo international, will provide the answer. The Northern Irishman is also keen to sign Virgil van Dijk, a Netherlands Under-21 international defender, from Groningen.

Celtic's season will begin on either July 19 or 20, when they play their first Champions League qualifier.
