Agents of Lewandowski criticised

The German Football Agent Association (DFVV) has hit out at Robert Lewandowski's representatives and the manner in which they have been carrying out their business - with a German newspaper likening his agents to Polish cartoon characters.

Rumours of Lewandowski's exit from Borussia Dortmund have been rumbling on for months, but the speculation has been dampened since Sunday when the club's chief executive officer, Hans-Joachim Watzke, ruled out a move for the Poland international in the summer.

The striker had been linked with a move to the Premier League, with champions Manchester United and new Manchester City Manuel Pellegrini showing interest.

However, on Thursday DFVV chief Gregor Reiter lambasted Lewandowski's agents, Cezary Kucharski and Maik Barthel, for their recent actions.

"For months they have been shouting Lewandowski's name from the rooftop. This is not a manifestation of a serious business conduct," Reiter told Sport1.

"Robert Lewandowski is under contract at Borussia Dortmund until June 30, 2014. More than once, Borussia Dortmund have made it clear that they are not willing to release the player before the end of his contract. End of discussion."

Both Kucharski and Barthel have also come under huge German media scrutiny for their conduct surrounding Lewandowksi's possible Dortmund exit.

They have been accused of intentionally releasing information to the press concerning the striker's future.

German newspaper Die Welt referred to the duo as "Lolek & Bolek" [the title characters from a long-running Polish cartoon], while other papers labelled them greedy and accused them of only wanting to cash in on their client.

The agents have used Twitter to respond, telling Die Welt: "We will certainly not reply to a story written in the Frankfurt living room of a history expert."
