Liverpool seal Alberto deal
Liverpool have wrapped up the capture of Luis Alberto from Sevilla.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has made it clear that he wants to get his transfer business done early and after agreeing a fee for Simon Mignolet, he has sealed a deal for striker Alberto.
The 20-year-old spent last season on loan at Barcelona's B team, but the Catalans did not take up their option to sign Alberto and that paved the way for a move to Anfield.
Alberto passed a medical earlier in the week, which enabled the Reds to confirm he had signed a long-term contract.
"We are all delighted that Luis has decided to join Liverpool," Rodgers told the club's official website. "He has the correct footballing profile and mentality to be a Liverpool player.
"I look forward to working with him to develop his talent and he joins a group of young exciting players at our club."
It would appear Rodgers' reputation played a big part in luring Alberto to Liverpool.
"I came to the club because of the manager," Alberto said. "I came here because of the style of football he plays.
"I feel very excited, I've never felt so excited before but I'm very happy. I think I am the happiest man on earth.
"I was surprised [when Liverpool showed interest in me]. You never expect this to happen to you. But as the deal moved forward, I became very happy and I wanted to come to Liverpool."
