Arsenal & Juventus in for Higuain, says father
The father of Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain has confirmed a decision on his son's future is imminent, with Arsenal and Juventus in the mix to secure the services of the Argentina international.
The news that Arsenal have agreed terms on a contract with Higuain appears to offer evidence that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger and his board have decided to break their much-maligned wage structure in a bid to land the 25-year-old, but there is still no guarantee that the striker will be moving to north London next season.
"Real Madrid will make the final decision," Jorge Higuain told La Gazzetta dello Sport. "Nothing has been signed yet, but I can assure you that an agreement with both Arsenal and Juventus has almost been reached."
Meanwhile Real Madrid are yet to accept a bid from either Arsenal or Juventus for their striker, with the Spanish giants suggesting they are not yet ready to sanction the sale of Higuain.
"No deal will be signed until one of the interested clubs reaches an agreement with Real Madrid," a statement from Real Madrid printed in Spanish newspaper Marca read. "I'm sure that both Arsenal and Juventus will table serious bids."
Wenger has yet to comment on his chase of Higuain, but transfer developments at Arsenal are likely to gather momentum when the Frenchman returns from his summer break in the next few days.
