Pep Guardiola has said he is ready for the next chapter of his career as he prepares to deal with the pressure of managing Bayern Munich.

Guardiola was unveiled as Bayern's new boss in his first press conference on Monday, as he replaced Jupp Heynckes at the Allianz Arena.

Heynckes led Bayern to a historic Treble last season as they clinched the Bundesliga, Champions League and DFB-Pokal.

The post is Guardiola's first since he left Barcelona - where he won a number of trophies - in 2012, and the Spaniard is eagerly anticipating what lies ahead.

He said in German: "I am happy to get this opportunity. Bayern is a big club. The great players and the history of the club have convinced me to come here

"I am ready. My time at Barcelona was wonderful, but I was searching for a new challenge. I am ready to give my best.

"I have to live with the pressure. I know that in big clubs there is always big pressure. I take over a team that has played extraordinary last season. If you are coach at Bayern Munich you have to win no matter what."

Guardiola said he has had no contact with Heynckes yet, but "it would be good to hear his opinion".

He added: "I have huge respect for his achievements not only in the last year but throughout his career. It is an honour to be his successor."
